One More Reason To Get Beauty Rest

Here's a subject I never get tired of talking about - melatonin, nature's sleeping pill. Melatonin is the hormone released by the pineal gland that not only helps us sleep, but also has anti-aging properties. They don't call it "beauty rest" for nuthin'. Here's an important thing you should know about melatonin: your body's production of melatonin slows down after age 40, so instead of repairing and rejuvenating your cells while you sleep, your body switches to aging and degeneration. The good news is that it's easy and safe for most people to supplement with melatonin (check with your doctor first). Another important thing to keep in mind about melatonin is that your body's own production of the hormone rises from bedtime to the middle of the night and it requires darkness.
