Do you keep your commitments or is a promise just a fleeting agreement you make with your fingers crossed behind your back - just in case? For too many people, commitments to lose weight, to begin exercising, or to improve their overall health are just that...temporary vows made with good intentions and a mental exit strategy already in place.

Does that describe you? If it does, it's not too late to alter your game plan. Why not choose to build on a strategy of success using a step-by-step roadmap you can implement today so that you can change the outcomes of tomorrow?

First, take a good hard look at how you define the word "no." To some people, "NO" means "Absolutely not. Period." But not in all cases. Sometimes "NO" means "Not now," "Maybe," or even "Ask me again in five minutes." What does "NO" mean to you as it pertains to your diet and weight-loss commitments?

If your answer is anything other than "Absolutely not. Period!" I've got some tips to make "no" mean "NO" every single time! When you are tempted to break your commitment to living a changed life, put the word "NO" into a complete sentence. Not just ANY complete sentence, though. Consider this: When you tell a child "NO," you exponentially improve the chances they'll listen, hear - and obey - your directive if you add the word "because" to a sentence with the word "no." For instance, saying, "No, you can't play in the street because you could be hit by a car" is much more powerful and likely to work than screaming, "Don't go in the street!"

If you truly want to succeed with your commitment, you need to internalize it and take ownership of your life-changing promise to yourself. There are a host of situations you'll face on an everyday basis that can be viewed as challenges to your weight loss commitment. Whether you are out with a friend who suggests slipping into a dessert shop for some sinfully delicious pie or you are tempted to grab a drive-through fast food meal substitute because you're in a hurry, saying "NO because" will strengthen your commitment to excellence and success every time!

Take control of your health, your weight and your future. Commit to the change you know will give you the tomorrows you want and need. Remember, "NO" is a complete sentence, because it's the healthy thing to do for you, your family and your future. So what are you waiting for?
