Even the most unlikely places can provide tips for Aging Backwards! I just returned from New York City, where I was doing some business and meeting with media people. On the way home, I just happened to pick up Skymall Magazine to divert my attention away from Aging Backwards "work" for a few minutes. I just have one of those brains that never stops working so, naturally, quite a few products in Skymall caught my attention as Aging Backwards products. Here are a few I discovered. I have NOT tried any of these products, so I'm not endorsing them. I'm just letting you know what's out there.
1) Sleeptracker, The Sleep Cycle Monitoring Watch. This product won the Time Magazine Best Inventions Award. It monitors your sleep cycle and only wakes you up when it's the optimum time for your body to awaken. $179.95
2) The Accelerometer. This product takes the pedometer to the next level. I always advocate wearing a pedometer because studies show you tend to increase your daily activity just to see the pedometer numbers increase. The Accelerometer calculates calories burned from physical movement, not just steps or distance. According to the company's ad, it uses technology similar to NASA's method for tracking movement of the astronauts. $49.95
3) Insolia High Heel Inserts. Recently I reported on the results of a study of high heels which revealed that wearing a two-inch heel is beneficial for a woman's pelvic floor muscles. If you like wearing high heels, but find them too uncomfortable, these inserts may help. High heels create a ramp effect putting the heel in a tip-toe position. The Insolia insert, invented by a podiatrist, shifts the weight off the ball of the foot and back to the heel, making it feel as if you're wearing heels that are half the height you're really wearing. $19.97 (3 pr. pack)
4) The Stress-Relieving Wristband. It's a biofeedback watch, basically, that massages and stimulates the pressure points of the inner left wrist. According to the description, it's similar to acupuncture but without the needles. It also mentions that it's not for use with cardiac pacemakers. $79.95
5) Sassybax Underwire Shaper. I haven't tried the Sassybax products, but I can certainly see the benefit in eliminating bra lines in back. Looking smooth is looking youthful. $65.00
